Articles & Blog Posts
This client was launching a new brand and looking for writers to create informative “stories” (blog articles) to include on the website. The client was looking for a casual tone, comparable to Cosmo.com or Betches.com, and wanted gifs and emojis included, as well as links to particular products. We started with two sample articles, and pleased with with I produced, the client hired me on for additional writing, including over a dozen blog posts, as well as editing stories written by other contributors, and conducting a complete site audit prior to launch.
Localization & SEO
The client was performing a complete overhaul of their site’s online location descriptions for each of their 500+ stores. I was brought on to help with the project. In addition to writing over 60 location-specific descriptions of services and offers that included integrating specific SEO keywords, I also wrote device-specific deliverables for select stores and contributed to the clients’ blog on topics such as “Why Your Android’s Battery is Draining and How to Fix It.” The work I provided helped the client update their SEO and stay on schedule, as well as add a unique element to each location page.
Peer-review Editing
This client had a solicited article preparing to be published in a journal on higher education. The client hired me to proofread and edit her re-write, give substantive feedback on organization and direction, and compare her direction editor’s comments. My contribution to the project included changes to grammar and spelling, APA formatting, changes to wording and tone, and comments on the writing. I also ensured the document met all the journal’s formatting and citation guidelines, wrote the bibliography and formatted in-text citations, wrote the abstract for the article, and collaborated on the final page. The sample is my first feedback, though I also worked directly with the client, and significant changes were made during this one-on-one process.
Blog & Travel Writing
This client was re-branding her travel advice website and was looking for support developing new content. I was brought on to advise on existing material and do new writing. I started by writing location descriptions for 30+ LA travel spots. After building a professional relationship with the client, I went on to copyedit the home page and about page of the site, as well as write their slogan: “Have Kids, Still Travel.” I also created original content such as “Where to Travel based on Your Enneagram.” The site was launched successfully at the beginning of 2020.
